the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.”

TO BENEFIT FROM COUNSELLING. TALKING WITH A PROFESSIONAL CAN GET YOU THROUGH DIFFICULT SITUATIONS IN LIFE AND YOU'RE STRONGER IF YOU DO THAT

Why pick me as your counsellor?

I am great at developing a rapport with my clients and putting them at ease.

Research suggests that if a therapist responds in an attuned way, the client will have a positive experience, which may encourage them to also express needs outside of the therapy room. I pride myself in responding in an attuned way, and establishing a rapport with my clients which I believe allows me to be an effective counsellor. The therapeutic relationship itself is essential to the success a patient experiences.

This is not a job for me; it's a Passion

You will find that I go above and beyond. I focused on couples therapy and counselling because our: happiness, quality of life, and satisfaction are tied to our primary relationships. I absolutely love working with couples. Not many therapists work primarily with couples or have specific training. I have purposely pursued this area of counselling.  I believe in what I do and truly want to help couples and families: communicate better, and increase their happiness with each other and overall quality of life.
I am trained in the most effective couples therapy modality: EFT

I am certified in levels 1, 2, 3 in Emotionally Focused Therapy. Research studies have found that 70-75% of couples undergoing EFT successfully move from distress to recovery, and approximately 90% of couples show significant improvements.. Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy is a well-researched form of couples therapy used internationally to help couples achieve more connection, attunement, and satisfaction in their relationships. -Source: Psychology Today

Types of therapy and approach I use:

Family systems approach

"Families are an emotional unit. They are an interconnected system of interdependent individuals. Moreover, they influence one another, and their psychology cannot be understood in isolation from the system as a whole. "

 - Newport Academy

Emotionally focused therapy

"EFT is a structured approach to couples therapy formulated in the 1980’s and has developed alongside the science on adult attachment and bonding to expand our understanding about what is happening in couple relationships and to guide therapists."

-International Centre For Excellence In Emotionally Focused Therapy

Narrative therapy

Narrative therapy is a style of therapy that helps people become—and embrace being—an expert in their own lives. In narrative therapy, there is an emphasis on the stories that you develop and carry with you through your life."

-Good Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a short-term form of behavioral treatment. It helps people problem-solve. CBT also reveals the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and the behaviors that follow."

Few facts about me…

I am a mother of a busy 13-year-old boy. I am also a dog lover. I am originally from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. I love to cook, volunteer, play a variety of sports. You will definitely find me kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding on the water as well.

I am a facilitator, mindfulness practitioner, lover of life, nature, family and all the little things that bring us joy on a daily basis. I am a compassionate individual dedicated to helping others both mentally and spiritually. I enjoy helping couples create and sustain healthy, strong, satisfying relationships. I continually strengthen my practice and offerings to my clients by keeping at the forefront of what is: relevant, evidence-based practice, and applying approaches that work.

I have a genuine desire to make a difference and help others and sought a purposeful meaningful career. I walk compassionately with my clients. Some of the topics my clients wrestle with I have as well in my life. I am able to be compassionate and resonate and build a rapport with my clients.  I look forward to helping you on your life journey. There is nothing more rewarding to me than when a client tells me how much I have helped them and they feel happier and lighter in life or were able to process something from the past that they have pushed down for so many years and finally feel at peace.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT A YELLOW FINCH (GOLDFINCH)  SYMBOLIZES?

A goldfinch (yellow finch) arrival is said to "remind you to enjoy life and savor each moment for the joy that is in it. Furthermore, it is also a time to celebrate who you are, your accomplishments, or just for the sheer fun of it. The Goldfinch meaning symbolizes that life is for you to live. Therefore, each moment you waste on such negative emotions as fear, hatred, and anger is a waste of time. This spirit animal is all about finding joy in the present moment. Seeing one represents that it is time to express yourself. Thus you need to speak up and speak your mind. Be straightforward, kind, and thoughtful with your words, and all will be resolved. "  As a mindfulness practitioner and true believer in "finding joy in the present moment" the yellow finch couldn't be a better representation of my business and practice in my own life.

"The goldfinches are symbolic of joy, enthusiasm, positivity, and persistence. In Christianity, these birds have a strong symbolism and are considered to be sacred. The spirit of the goldfinches also symbolizes optimism. These birds believe in always looking at the bright side of things. The third message from Goldfinch Spirit Animal is one of joy. There is a sweet cheerfulness in this little Bird and in the creature’s heartening song. Remaining positive and finding simple, sublime happiness in your life cannot be overstressed. Celebrate every sparkle in your journey and stay true to your vision. The third message from Goldfinch Spirit Animal is one of joy.
